Happy New Year 2021!

Happy New Year everyone! If 2020 didn’t turn out the way you planned then you’re not alone! 2020 was the start of a new decade and we had all sorts of plans to get off to a good start. Unfortunately, Covid happened and it all went out the window. So, we have decided that 2021 will be the year we concentrate on the things we can control.

Get serious about self-care

You have to look after yourself before you can look after anyone else. If you’re feeling burned out, exhausted, undervalued or generally negative about things (it’s hard not to at the moment we know), it’s time to put aside an hour to look after yourself and unwind. Self-care can be almost anything – the only rule is that it’s all for you, our favourites are; hot bubble bath and a book, brisk walk somewhere green, take a nap, and our absolute favourite – a facial to make you look and feel amazing – speak to your therapist for soe great at-home products to try.

Heal your mind

If you’re having mental health problems you should always talk to a doctor or healthcare professional first. But, if you’re just looking to undo unhealthy thinking patterns, then self-improvement books can help you look at things differently and put in place some actions to help you heal. There are lots of options once you get looking so we’ll leave the choice to you but if you are looking for a good fiction book we recommend ‘The Midnight Library’ by Matt Haig. A fantastic read and really helps you to appreciate life and understand how important mindset is.

Sort your skin out once and for all

If the state of your skin is something that really knocks your confidence, make 2021 the year you finally invest in it. A course of SkinBase Microdermabrasion Facials is the perfect starting point – these deeply exfoliating, rejuvenating treatments will reveal fresh new skin and stimulate skin renewal. If you are in a lockdown area right now then this isn’t an option but getting in touch with your local SkinBase beauty therapist can start you on the path to perfect skin. Start with an online consultation and a homecare plan with great skincare and then when you can get booked in for your treatments you can really hit the ground running!

Microdermabrasion is fantastic for so many skin concerns, including blemish-prone skin, ageing, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and dullness. Using a specialised handset, the SkinBase therapist will pass a fine jet of abrasive crystals over the skin, to loosen dead skin, pore blockages, excess oil and grime. This debris is then gently vacuumed away using light suction, which has the added effect of stimulating collagen production and cell renewal. It’s easy to see why Microdermabrasion has such a rejuvenating effect on the skin, and why it can give you such a fantastic confidence boost!

Get hydrated

What does hydration have to do with putting your best face forward? This is something that people only ask before they start drinking two litres of water a day, trust us. When you’re properly hydrated, you have more energy, your brain works better and your skin is softer and clearer. You’re less likely to have your day ruined by headaches, and 4pm energy slumps are far less common. Everything feels better when you’re hydrated, so start the new year by working on those two litres, right away!
