Bridal Body Confidence

Well, we think that there are a lot of different ways to feel about the subject, and all are valid. The important thing is that you know what your options are. So here’s a judgement-free guide to all the different ways you can make positive changes to your body before the big day.

Just get moving

Everyone has a different fitness level. An unfit person can’t be expected to keep up with a Bridal Bootcamp, and you shouldn’t feel bad about it either! Start going to a fun, low-impact exercise class like Zumba or Sh’Bam instead and let yourself enjoy the experience of moving your body, in a relaxed, positive environment.

Tone up exercises

For a lot of people, firming up their thighs, bottom, upper arms or stomach is the key to feeling body confident, but you need slightly different kinds of exercises for this, than you do for strength training or weight loss. Yoga and pilates are fantastic for toning up your body, and adding a bit of resistance training at the gym will really help you to see results. These kinds of exercises are also really good if you have an injury you need to be conscious of.

Getting into cardio

Improving your cardiovascular health can give you more energy, and is really important for longevity. Cardio exercise is also the type of exercise that best helps you to lose weight. If you’re already a keen runner, cyclist, hiker or swimmer, then keep it up! Give yourself a goal or join a programme like Bootcamp to stay motivated throughout your engagement, and to make sure that the stresses and strains don’t take their toll on your exercise regime. If you’re new to exercise, start small, perhaps with a couch to 5k programme.

Strength training

If you’re happy with your weight, but you still struggle with feeling confident, why not try some strength workouts instead? You can use kettlebells, dumbbells, equipment at the gym, or even just your own weight using bodyweight workouts. These help to tone and build muscle and will make you physically stronger. You’ll feel more secure in your body by challenging it and seeing changes in your ability. Just remember that unlike other forms of exercise, strength training can make you gain weight and mass from muscle (although this tends to happen less in women than men) so keep this in mind when it comes to your dress.
