There’s a good reason why so many people are using coconut oil as a beauty treatment. This natural ingredient is highly moisturising, as well as containing anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and antioxidant properties. If you’re unsure as to how to use this wonder product in your beauty routine, check out these top tips.

Hair

Coconut oil works as a conditioner to hydrate the hair and tame split ends. As it’s difficult to wash out, it’s best used on just the ends of the hair. However, you can use it as an overnight treatment for extra conditioning. You can also use a little coconut oil to tame frizzy hair. Just apply straight to the hair and leave in. You should notice that with regular use, your hair appears softer, shinier and healthier.

Body

Coconut oil boasts softening properties to moisturise your body. Massaging oil into your skin is great for aiding eczema and psoriasis due to its soothing and nourishing abilities. You can also use it to improve the appearance of wrinkles and ageing. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, it helps to firm and plump the skin.

Face

If you’re applying coconut oil to your face, make sure you have dry skin. While bursting with anti-inflammatory properties to reduce the redness of spots, it’s known to clog pores. When pores become clogged with oil, dirt, and other elements, blemishes can form. In other words, either apply coconut oil directly to a spot to treat it or if you have very dry skin, coconut oil works well to naturally hydrate and soothe any related soreness. If you have combination or oily skin, try using jojoba, rosehip or tea-tree oils instead.
