Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses ultra-fine crystals to exfoliate dead skin cells and impurities. A vacuum action removes these off the skin. The vacuum of the machine also stimulates circulation, lymphatic drainage and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, enabling you to provide results for multiple concerns with no downtime and (bonus) pain-free! Download a Microdermabrasion brochure below for more information.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that can be applied to clients’ face, hands and neck improving the appearance and feel of the skin. These chemical solutions are applied to the treatment area, breaking down the outer layer of dead skin (stratum corneum). Post-treatment the skin begins to ‘peel’, increasing skin cell turnover to reveal fresher, new skin beneath.

Whilst ‘chemical’ can sound a little scary, there are different types of peels available with different strengths. They range from very gentle peels to much-deeper acting peels. The depth at which the peel works will determine how comfortable the treatment is and how much down-time is involved. There is something to suit all skin types.

Explain to clients that a lower strength of peel is usually advised to start. Then building up to a higher strength peel if required. For those who want a gentle rejuvenation and are nervous about the treatment, a lighter peel with little downtime is perfect and no deeper than a microdermabrasion!

AHA Peels

Using alpha hydroxy acids to lightly penetrate the outermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, it helps to gently dissolve and remove the layer of dead skin cells revealing smoother brighter skin.

Lactic Acid Peels

A light chemical peel perfect for sensitive/irritated skin. Lactic acid is derived from milk so it isn’t a harsh chemical, it works more gently on the skin.

Salicylic Acid Peels

Salicylic is perfect for acne prone/congested skin thanks to its anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties! The Salicylic acid destroys the bacteria on the skin which causes acne and breakouts. As a result it provides relief, allowing the skin to repair and clear itself up, providing fresher, cleaner glowing skin.

Glycolic Peels

A deeper peel for those who want a deep overall rejuvenation. Glycolic acid has the smallest molecules out of all of the peels available, allowing the molecules to penetrate the skin deeper, dissolving and sloughing off dead skin cells revealing a smoother skin surface and clearer pores and brighter skin.

TCA Chemical Peel

Using trichloroacetic acid, this penetrates into the middle layers of skin working to a medium/ deep depth, helping to remove dead skin and damaged skin cells. With the ability to provide long lasting results, those who are comfortable with a moderate downtime would be best suited.

Vitamin C Chemical Peel

Vitamin C helps to protect clients’ skin against free radicals by working as an anti-oxidant, therefore preventing the free radicals from oxidising onto the skin. It also contains anti-bacterial and brightening properties helping to reduce and prevent acne, whilst restoring skin tone and fading blemishes. A hero product!

Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peels

Both treatments work effectively to treat a number of skin concerns with amazing results. Don’t let ‘chemical’ put your clients off. Both peels and Microdermabrasion treatments can be selected to suit individual clients’ skin and as a result you can target their skin concerns effectively. Likewise, there may be times when one is more appropriate over the other. For clients with extensive broken capillaries, you can advise that peels would be more appropriate to use. Above all, both provide enviable instant results! If you’re not already, become a SkinBase therapist now.

Testimonial: “JC was so low, suicidal at points. Sore, red, angry, his skin was awful, we had tried everything and doctors you name it. We reached out to Becky, who was wonderful. My son was quiet and withdrawn, lacked confidence and self esteem, and locked himself away from the world. Becky booked us in for a consultation to discuss different options of treatments and we decided the new hydro treatment would be the best option. We started the course and JC was nervous but Becky was great with him talking him through everything, step by step! As we went each time JC’s skin got better and better, but also the difference in him was huge, he was gaining confidence, shoulders back, head held high. We have watched his skin change from this red, aggressive, angry skin that was sore, acne was debilitating to him but now he is confident, holds his head up high and has even got his first job! We are so proud. When we met Becky I felt confident she would help us get his skin better and back on track but what has actually happened is skin looks amazing but to see our son gain confidence has been the biggest win! Teens often get pushed aside, put on string meds and told “it’s just your age” but this isn’t what they want to hear, but The SkinBase treatments Becky has done has changed his life! We cannot thank you enough Becky! JC is continuing with the treatments as it still gets the odd breakouts but the scarring is still improving week in week out. The hydro Facial is just amazing and we cannot recommend it enough and of course Becky and her passion for skin and helping people is wonderful!”
