We caught up with Lisa to find out more about her clients’ journeys, the importance of documenting results and how becoming a two-time finalist has benefited her business.
Transformation 26: You Aesthetics
Lisa is a registered and practicing midwife with over 20 years of experience. Alongside her career in the NHS, she has been working in aesthetics for almost 3 years, running YOU Aesthetics Staffordshire from her home-based clinic. She joined SkinBase in 2025, and now offers the full range of SkinBase treatments which are Collagen Lift, Microdermabrasion, Hydro and IPL.

Q: What challenges did the client face before starting their SkinBase journey?
The client was concerned about changes in their skin, particularly loss of firmness, texture and overall skin quality. They wanted their skin to look firmer, more youthful and rejuvenated but were looking for a non-invasive approach. Like many of my clients they didn’t necessarily want to look “different” – they simply wanted to look like the best version of themselves.
Q: At the consultation stage, what made you confident the client would be suitable for SkinBase Collagen Lift?
The consultation is incredibly important to me. I take time to understand the client’s concerns, expectations, medical history and skincare routine before deciding whether a treatment is appropriate. In this case the client was a really good candidate for Collagen Lift because their concerns were primarily around skin laxity and quality, they were looking for a gradual and natural-looking improvement rather than an instant or dramatic change. I felt the treatment would complement their goals perfectly.
Q: At what point did you/they start to see noticeable changes in their skin?
The client noticed improvements gradually but significantly after the 3rd treatment. Their skin began to look fresher with improvements in firmness and overall texture becoming more noticeable as the course progressed. The cumulative results were particularly impressive, also the before-and-after photographs really highlighted the transformation.
Q: What key habits did the client commit to that made the biggest difference?
Consistency was probably the biggest factor. They committed to following the recommended treatment plan and also looking after their skin between appointments. They also increased their water intake to 2-3 litres per day. Good skincare isn’t just about what happens in the treatment room. Maintaining hydration, protecting the skin from the sun and following a suitable homecare routine all make a huge difference.

Q: What is your number one skincare tip for maintaining a fresh, glowing complexion year-round?
SPF every single day! I genuinely can’t emphasise this enough. You can invest in fantastic treatments and skincare but if you’re not protecting your skin from UV damage, you’re working against yourself. For me, SPF 50 and consistency are the non-negotiables.
Q: How did documenting progress (photos/results) help both you and your client? Any tips for getting great before-and-after shots?
Photographs are invaluable. They allow both the client and therapist to see changes that you may not necessarily notice when looking in the mirror every day. My biggest tip is consistency. Take photographs in the same position, with the same lighting, background, distance and facial expression wherever possible. Avoid filters and keep the images natural. I also think it’s important to take photographs for the right reasons — not to create unrealistic expectations but to accurately document genuine progress.
Q: As a finalist, what’s your top tip for salons talking to clients about the competition?
Tell them about it! I think clients often underestimate just how amazing their own results can be. I would encourage therapists to explain that the competition is about celebrating real transformations and the journey the client has been on, rather than expecting a “perfect” result.
Q: How do you support clients in feeling confident enough to enter their results into the competition?
A lot of it comes down to reassurance. Some clients can be quite self-conscious about photographs even when their results are fantastic. I explain that their transformation doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful. Sometimes subtle changes in firmness, texture and confidence can make an enormous difference to someone. If they are happy with their results, I encourage my client to be proud of them!
Q: How does it feel to be a Transformation of the Year finalist?
Honestly, it feels amazing and a little surreal! I’m incredibly proud, particularly because I’m still relatively new to SkinBase and became a finalist with our first entry. Now I am a finalist for a second time! To have a client’s results recognised at this level is a huge compliment and makes me even more excited about what SkinBase treatments can achieve. It’s also lovely to celebrate the client and the work we’ve done together rather than it simply being about me or my business.
Q: What advice would you give to therapists thinking about entering the Transformation of the Year competition?
“Enter! Don’t talk yourself out of it because you think your results aren’t dramatic enough or because you assume there will be hundreds of entries better than yours. Choose a genuine client transformation, document it properly and tell the story behind the results. The journey matters just as much as the photograph. Don’t be afraid to celebrate your work, therapists can be very good at doing the work and then not shouting about it!”
Q: How has the Transformation of the Year competition benefitted your business?
“It has given me even more confidence in the SkinBase treatments I offer and has helped demonstrate to existing and potential clients what can be achieved with a consistent treatment plan. It has also created a real interest around SkinBase within my clinic. Clients have realised real results can be achieved without necessarily turning to injectables. Thanks so much for this opportunity.”
