The popularity of the heavy contour, bold eyeshadow and fake lashes trend is starting to fade, giving way to a new fashionable look; the dewy, ‘makeup-free’ glow. Popularised by ultra-cool skincare brands and influencers around the world, this look is defined by its supposed effortlessness – you’re supposed to look like you just rolled out of bed, splashed some water on your face and skipped out the door. But obviously, there’s a lot more to it than that. So how can you achieve that natural glow?

Start with a clean canvas

Unfortunately, covering up blemishes with layers of foundation and concealer is never going to deliver the look you’re after. In order to get that smooth, clear skin that glows, try Microdermabrasion. This treatment deeply cleanses your pores, removes blackheads, reduces spots, and smoothes your skin. Microdermabrasion also gives you a healthy glow by stimulating the circulation, and removing dead skin, which would otherwise absorb light and leave your skin looking dull.

Dewy skincare

Now that you have a smooth, blemish free canvas, you can apply products to enhance your natural beauty. Start with an ultra hydrating serum to plump up your skin and keep it soft. You could also mix a very small amount of liquid highlighter into your serum and apply it to your cheekbones and the tip of your nose for a subtle glow.

Minimal makeup

Unsurprisingly, the key to a ‘no makeup’ look is always going to be using small amounts of makeup, in clever ways. Opt for a tinted moisturiser to add to your skin’s moisture levels and provide a little bit of unnoticeable coverage. If you have any blemishes or dark circles to cover up, mix concealer into your moisturiser, to help it sink into the skin.

Protect your glow

You might think that sun exposure would be a great way to achieve healthy, glowing skin, but you’d be wrong. Sun exposure causes premature ageing, pigmentation and dehydration. Protect your skin with an SPF like SkinBase’s Homecare with SPF.
