Salon Spotlight: Rebecca Willshee
In our Salon Spotlight for February, we’re talking to SkinBase Therapist Rebecca Willshee from Barbados, where she is enjoying 10 days of sunshine after her transformation of the Year win.
Becky offers SkinBase Microdermabrasion, Hydro, Collagen Lift and Intense Pulsed Light in Burton upon Trent. Her passion and skills have helped countless clients take control of their skin and their confidence, including her winning client James!

Thank you for talking to us today Becky, it’s so great to talk to one of our Transformation of the Year winners, and someone with such a wealth of experience!
Q: How does it feel to be here in Barbados as our Transformation of the Year winner?
“I don’t really know how to explain it, being in Barbados is absolutely incredible. The place is so chilled, the vibes are great, it’s so relaxing. I absolutely love the people. The island is so beautiful and there’s so much to do here in Holetown. It’s just incredible!”
Q: When you entered the competition, did you ever imagine yourself winning and being here?
“When I first joined SkinBase, I just started off with the Microdermabrasion. Then I went on to have all of the machines so I’m on the All You Can Eat (AYCE) contract. I remember doing my vision board and thinking ‘I’m going to win that holiday, I am absolutely, I want that, I want to go there’. Then when I got James for his treatment, I just knew after that first treatment, I could see a difference in his skin and I just knew me and him, we were in the running.”
Q: What went through your mind when you found out you’d won?
“When I got the phone call to actually say that I’d won I was in so much shock. I remember exactly where I was, I was in a car park in Nottingham and I just sat there and literally screamed. I was just so grateful. Then I burst into tears! I’d wanted it for so long, and I knew that my results were amazing with James, but you never think that it’s going to be you that wins a competition like this. I phoned James when he was at work and we were both absolutely buzzing. We just could not believe it that we’d won.”
Q: As a winner, what is your top tip for therapists wanting Transformation of the Year results?
“My top tips for being a SkinBase winner and getting those amazing results is consistency. Make sure you explain to your clients the importance of being consistent with skincare, being consistent with treatments, and not listening to those fad tiktoks that a lot of people are going through at the minute! Consistency is the key. Make sure that they’re with you, because they need to be in it as much as you are. They need to invest that time, and I think when people are spending that much money on a professional treatment, by using their homecare as well, it is really key to getting those results.”
Q: What would you say to therapists who are unsure about entering?
“I know a lot of you are probably a little bit unsure about entering and thinking ‘do you know what, it’s never going to be me’, but it really could be you! When your client is round, make sure they sign the release form and just get them to enjoy the whole process as much as you. Make sure you take really clear pictures, and get your before and afters in exactly the same position. A lot of people take pictures, and they’re not always that clear, which makes people doubt whether it’s a true result or not. So, just make sure your pictures are crystal clear, your before pictures, the pictures through the process, and then definitely your after pictures as well.”
Q: How does it feel to know you’ve helped someone regain their confidence?
“The way that James felt before he had his facials was quite deep. I remember his mum getting in touch with me and she said ‘I need your help, I need to get his skin better’. It’s great to get the results and get that amazing skin, but what’s even better is making sure that that teenage boy is confident in his own skin. The confidence that it gave him was absolutely incredible. He came in with a spring in his step. To see him thriving now as a young adult, I will never forget that feeling and I know that James won’t, and I know that his mum won’t either. I feel like we’ve got a bond forever now.”
Q: How do you support clients in feeling confident enough to enter the competition?
To me, I think it’s making my clients feel so confident in their skin that they trust and put their confidence in me. I always say to them let’s just go through it, let’s just start the process, let’s take the pictures, and then I’ll show you straight away afterwards. So, they come for their first treatment and then I show them their instant results, and then they’re like oh my god Becky, what a difference. I always feel that signifies a lot of trust, it shows that the treatments give results straight away as well. They want to enter the competition then because they’re a bit excited, they know that they’re in for a chance to win this competition.”
Q: And finally, if next year’s winner is reading this right now, what would you say to them?
I’m here on the beautiful island that is Barbados, in this humongous villa which is called Gully Point in Holetown. All you have to do to be in for a chance to win this amazing holiday for 10 days is enter the Transformation Competition this year. You and your client could be like me and my client and have 10 days (each!) on this amazing island. In the beautiful sunshine, surrounded by nature and little monkeys walking past you on the pool every day. Give it a go, get those entries in and it could be you!
