Winter will soon be here and it’s the time of year that can play havoc with your skin. Start your winter beauty routine now and by the time the cold winter weather arrives you’ll be prepared. Here are some tips to help you.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Always moisturise on a daily basis, even if you have oily skin. It’s much more likely your skin will become dry in the winter so moisturising is even more important. If you are going outside for a long period of time apply some cream on your face before you go out.

Help Your Skin to Breathe

Take care with the clothes you wear during cold weather. You should still wear natural fibres like cotton to allow your skin to breathe. Only use scarves made from soft wool because cheaper wools can be scratchy which will make you itch.

Don’t Get Into Hot Water

Hot water can take away the skin’s natural oils and leave your skin dry. It’s tempting to max out the thermostat in the winter, but cooler temperatures are much better for your skin. That also applies to the water in your bath or shower. Keep the water warm, not hot. Apply moisturiser while skin is still slightly damp to lock in moisture.

Microdermabrasion

Book yourself some microdermabrasion facial sessions and get rid of your dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion uses crystals to gently rub away the top layer of skin. It will help to remove areas of sun damage and treat fine lines and wrinkles.

The treatment will also improve your blood circulation which then encourages collagen and elastin production. It means you will have brighter, firmer and younger looking skin.

There’s no pain. It’s a non-invasive procedure. You won’t need to hide away for days on end either. If your skin is red straight after the treatment, this is completely normal for some people and will generally subside within a couple of days. Then you can arrange to meet your friends for coffee and show off your gorgeous winter complexion.
