Hydro Aftercare
To make sure the benefits of your treatment last for as long as possible, your Hydro aftercare post-treatment is essential. When you get it right, you can look forward to having healthy, happy skin. It’s important you follow the aftercare provided by your SkinBase therapist to avoid adverse reactions after treatment. Some of these may seem harmless enough. So, you might think, does it really matter? Well, yes, it really does!
1. Follow the Hydro Aftercare Advice Given
Reactions to the Hydro treatment itself are rare. However, what you do to your skin after treatment is super important, and can lead to a ‘reaction’. Ensure you avoid anti-ageing creams or anything with active ingredients for at least 72 hours. When committing to a course of treatment, invest in some gentle and soothing skin care such as the SkinBase Essentials range. The SkinBase Daily Repair and Protect cream is an excellent addition to your Hydro Aftercare routine. Remember, during a Hydro treatment, the peel is removing the outermost layer of skin, so your skin is more susceptible to the elements. You need to stay protected.
2. Use SPF & Avoid Sun Exposure
Use SPF 30 (at least) throughout your course of SkinBase Hydro to protect the skin. We also recommend staying out of direct sunlight for at least 48 hours. UV rays can damage your skin and slow down the healing process.
3. Avoid Exfoliating
A key part of your Hydro Aftercare in the week after your treatment involves avoiding exfoliating skin care products. As previously mentioned, the Hydro peel helps to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells on your face and removes the protective layer from the top of your skin. Post treatment, your skin looks rejuvenated as you’re left with fresh and healthy skin cells. However, exfoliating these cells would be too much exfoliation for the skin, causing irritation. Give your skin time to recover from the treatment before you go back to using exfoliating products.
4. Moisturise
Moisturiser helps to lock moisture into your skin and helps to protect by providing a barrier between your skin and harsh environmental factors. This will help to maximise the results of your Hydro treatment, keeping your skin fresh and smooth.
