May Awareness Days and Key Dates for the Diary

As we remain in lockdown keeping your presence on social media during this time is really important. Make sure clients know you are still here. We’ve got some good ideas for you and a few resources that we think are well worth taking a look at if you have the time at the moment.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month

May is skin cancer awareness month and lots of our SkinBase therapists have completed this course in early signs and symptoms of skin cancer and melanoma that we wanted to share with you;

MASCED Melanoma and skin cancer early detection course.

The course is just £20 and we think well worth completing if it helps you spot a potential issue for a client.

  • 4-10th –  Sun awareness week

A great opportunity to remind clients about the importance of using spf and to retail your products. SkinBase therapists can take advantage of our online ordering at the moment to have product orders dispatched directly to clients. Contact us for more info about this.

  • 5th – Hand hygiene day

Never a more relevant topic at the moment. We recommend writing to clients (email and social post) to tell them how you are going to be taking extra precautions with hygiene and safety ahead of the salon reopening. We’re sure you follow excellent hygiene practices anyway however clients will want reassurance you are going above and beyond to protect them.

We have a course link very relevant to this. Our trainer Samantha Eaton from Mysa Aesthetics Beauty & Training has an online theory course about infection control and priced at a very affordable £19. The course was written by a registered nurse with a degree in Infection Control who is currently advising organisations during the Covid-19 pandemic. She has worked for Public Health England and is up to date with the latest guidelines and information. Find out more here.

  • 8th – VE Day 75 years

The 8th is VE Day marking 75 years since the end of World War II. This will also be the first May bank holiday.

  • 13th – National Receptionist Day

We all know a great receptionist is worth their weight in gold. The face and voice of your business, taking calls, greeting clients and sorting out rebookings and making sure those retail sales happen, your receptionist is an essential part of the business so let’s celebrate them today!

  • 13th – World Cocktail Day

We love our cocktails. We can’t go ‘out out’ for a drink at the moment, but there’s no stopping us from staying in. Why not share some recipes with clients or even plan a few mocktails to celebrate when lockdown ends and give clients a special treat!

  • 17th – World Baking Day

  • 18-24th  – Mental Health Awareness Week

This year’s theme is ‘kindness’. There are lots of resources you can access on the Mental Health website to share with clients or for yourself if you are struggling during this difficult time.

  • 25th – Bank Holiday

  • 29th – National Biscuit Day

Everyone loves a biscuit (don’t they??) Find out what your clients love with a Facebook poll and you can make sure you are stocked up with their favourites when the salon opens. Ours is a chocolate hobnob thanks for asking!

Rebecca Willshee Nail and Beauty Specialist

Testimonial: “JC was so low, suicidal at points. Sore, red, angry, his skin was awful, we had tried everything and doctors you name it. We reached out to Becky, who was wonderful. My son was quiet and withdrawn, lacked confidence and self esteem, and locked himself away from the world. Becky booked us in for a consultation to discuss different options of treatments and we decided the new hydro treatment would be the best option. We started the course and JC was nervous but Becky was great with him talking him through everything, step by step! As we went each time JC’s skin got better and better, but also the difference in him was huge, he was gaining confidence, shoulders back, head held high. We have watched his skin change from this red, aggressive, angry skin that was sore, acne was debilitating to him but now he is confident, holds his head up high and has even got his first job! We are so proud. When we met Becky I felt confident she would help us get his skin better and back on track but what has actually happened is skin looks amazing but to see our son gain confidence has been the biggest win! Teens often get pushed aside, put on string meds and told “it’s just your age” but this isn’t what they want to hear, but The SkinBase treatments Becky has done has changed his life! We cannot thank you enough Becky! JC is continuing with the treatments as it still gets the odd breakouts but the scarring is still improving week in week out. The hydro Facial is just amazing and we cannot recommend it enough and of course Becky and her passion for skin and helping people is wonderful!”
