double chin

How to fight the rise (or fall) of the double chin

There’s only so much we can to do keep gravity at bay. Sooner or later our skin will start to slacken, with jowls, turkey neck and a double chin appearing no matter how regularly we moisturise. Thankfully, we have a sure-fire way to help you combat this loss of firmness, and not only will it keep working for up to three months, the results will last for up to two years! What is it, we hear you cry? Read on to find out….

The ultimate lifting, firming treatment

The key to reversing skin laxity is to increase the amount of collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. These substances give structure to the skin, ensuring that it stays taut and firm. We produce a lot of them when we’re young, but the production starts to decline at around 25 years old and by the time we reach 40, we barely produce any. Although this is a natural process, it isn’t something we need to put up with! And that’s where SkinBase Radio Frequency treatments come in; to naturally lift, firm and tone the skin without putting it through invasive surgical treatments or injections.

How does it work?

As we age, the structure of our skin changes. The production of collagen and hyaluronic acid slows down, which leads to sagging and wrinkles. Although the production of these substances naturally slows down with age, the skin is still able to make them when it needs to. When the skin is damaged, for example, it will produce more of these substances to help heal the damaged area. During a Radio Frequency treatment, a specialised handset is used to heat the lower levels of the skin to a safe 40°C, which tricks the skin into thinking there has been some damage, when in fact, there hasn’t. New collagen and hyaluronic acid flood the area, and since they don’t have any healing to do, they remain in the skin, keeping it firm and smooth just like they did when you were young.

Elastin Importance

There is another structure within the skin that works a little differently to collagen and hyaluronic acid, called elastin. Whilst collagen and hyaluronic acid plump and firm the skin, giving it that smooth, youthful look, elastin is responsible for giving the skin its structure. Sagging skin occurs when the elastin fibres fall out of alignment, meaning that they are no longer able to provide a strong structure in the skin. Radio Frequency realigns the elastin fibres, to lift and tauten the skin.

Does it hurt?

Radio Frequency is painless, and most people find it to be a very relaxing treatment that feels similar to a hot stone massage. Best of all, because it’s non-invasive, you don’t have to worry about downtime or a recovery period; you can go straight back to your normal activities after each treatment. Perfect if you have a hectic lifestyle but still want to look your best.

Lift, tighten, firm and smooth out your skin for a youthful, radiant complexion using a treatment that works with your body, rather than resorting to artificial injections or surgical lifts.

Microdermabrasion treatment – What is it?

Microdermabrasion, meaning literally ‘small skin wearing away’ is an intense exfoliating treatment that uses tiny crystals to buff away the very outer layer of skin cells to reveal the fresh, new skin beneath. SkinBase microdermabrasion treatment also benefits from a vacuum action which stimulates the micro-circulation and increases blood flow to the treatment area.
