Understanding Rosacea

Rosacea is a long term skin condition, characterised by redness, flushing, visible veins and acne-like bumps on the skin. Often, symptoms appear on the cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, and less commonly, the body. Our guide to Rosacea is divided into several areas, so you can easily find the answers you need.

There are lots of potential triggers and causes, though the exact cause is still unclear. Genetics, abnormalities within the vascular and immune systems, and even mites have been suggested as potential causes. Find out how to treat your skin. Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea

Considered the most common type of rosacea. ETR is characterised by persistent redness and flushing at the centre of the face, and visible blood vessels. On darker skin, the redness may appear as a purple or brown flush.

Rhinophyma Rosacea

A much rarer type of rosacea. Rhinophyma rosacea is characterised by the thickening of the skin, usually resulting in a large, red, bumpy nose, particularly in men. The thickening less commonly affects the chin, forehead, and ears.

Ocular Rosacea

For some people, rosacea extends beyond the skin. Ocular rosacea, as the name suggests, is characterised by symptoms affecting the eyes. Redness, dryness, grittiness, and light sensitivity are often experienced with this type.

Papulopustular Rosacea

Also known as acne rosacea, as it is characterised by red bumps, pimples, and pustules that resemble an acne breakout. Other symptoms, such as oily, red, sensitive skin also contribute to the confusion between acne and rosacea.

Client Testimonial: “I am a lady of a certain age, so the wrinkles had appeared and impacted on my self esteem.  I would not want to have an invasive surgical procedure like a face lift so I did some research. I found the collagen lift and read some of the testimonials and results which were all positive. I had a course of six treatments and the results were amazing. I have a youthful glow and it has boosted my confidence. Friends and family have noticed. It’s definitely a treatment that I will continue to have.”
