Winter skin is dry skin…

In winter, a mixture of the cold weather, hot temperatures from central heating and excess over Christmas can mean that your skin needs a little more TLC than usual. Particularly true when it comes to moisturising your skin and making sure it receives the hydration it really needs. Read on for some simple ways to quench your thirsty skin this winter.

In the winter weather, dry skin needs to be exfoliated at least once a week to maintain a bright complexion and to enable your moisturiser to work to maximum effect.

You can’t book a SkinBase microdermabrasion Facial™ at the moment but with this treatment you will really see and feel the benefits of a professional deep down exfoliation which helps to resurface and rejuvenate the skin. Find your nearest therapist now so you are ready to book when we reopen! Here’s a bit more about the treatment…

Microdermabrasion

There are so many wonderful benefits to Microdermabrasion, including:

  • Increased blood flow to the superficial layers of the skin.
  • Brighter complexion
  • Removal of scars, fine lines and wrinkles

The treatment is simple, quick and very effective, and it will leave you with instantly better-looking skin. Just one SkinBase Microdermabrasion facial can dramatically improve the feel and appearance of the skin, so we definitely recommend booking in as soon as we can again. During the process, tiny crystals gently ablate the skin. The machine draws crystal particles, under suction, through the small hole at the end of the handpiece and over the skin. At the same time, sucking away the dead skin and used crystals. It may sound complicated, but the process is straightforward and pain free!

Moisturising Mask

If your skin is suffering from the cold it probably needs something more than your regular daily moisturiser. Apply a weekly moisturising mask to intensely soothe and hydrate your skin, leaving it revitalised and quenched. Dryness can lead to irritation and redness so switch to moisturisers that address these issues to provide comfort and to visibly calm redness and blotchiness. A richer night cream can aid deep down moisture levels for an overnight drink for the skin. Finally don’t forget to include some SPF protection in your moisturiser, a minimum of 15 and higher during those peak times for all year round protection. SkinBase homecare cream contains spf 30 and is gentle and soothing to the skin, get it in our shop.
