As a beauty therapist, your day is often long and busy with clients and treatments. This can mean organisation, filing and admin often slip as a result. Yet salon organisation is one of the most important elements of running a successful business. If you run a disorganised salon you will run into trouble. The good news is with a few simple tweaks you can organise you salon without too much extra effort. Then all you have to do is stay on top of it…
Top Tips for Staying on Top
Go Paperless
One of the easiest ways to minimise your organisational tasks and get rid of unnecessary clutter is to go paperless within your business. Take bookings online. An online booking system will save you time on calls. They are even smart enough to remind your clients about their appointments. Online booking also reduces no shows. Email consultation forms to your clients, and store important documents in the cloud where possible.
Stay Tidy
If you spend your spare time keeping the client areas of the salon gleaming, your office or personal space may be the mess. Don’t procrastinate with the organising! Minimise your stress by making some time to tidy up. A tidy space is a tidy mind! Stop hoarding anything you don’t need, file away anything you do. Deep clean the whole space and then create a cleaning schedule for the future -and stick to it!
Storage!
If you struggle to organise because of a lack of space – use the empty space you have above and invest in shelves to organise your business (and your life!). These can improve your salon aesthetic while being functional to boot. Consider labelling or colour coding your products on the shelves to make it easier to identify them. This will save you time in the long run. Have separate shelves for different types of products.
Master Your Time Management
Time blocking is an excellent method of time management – just like timetables at school. Break your day into “slots”, fill in the slots with clients. This way you can organise your tasks accordingly. Don’t put time-consuming or difficult tasks together. Break them up into the periods you feel most motivated to get tasks done.
There’s no right or wrong way to be organised – just make sure your salon organisation works for you and your team. Working in an organised environment means you can work smarter rather than harder. Follow our tips to declutter and stay chaos-free!
