2010 and beyond
Last month we shared how SkinBase first began – right up to the launch of our first-ever PAYG systems back in 2009. Well, a lot has happened since then! So let’s take a look at what came next…
PAYG was a big hit
Introducing PAYG during the recession turned out to be a game-changer. Salon owners loved the simplicity and flexibility of the model. It made professional treatments more accessible for businesses of all sizes and set the stage for our rapid growth.
Europe beckons
In 2010, we began to make waves internationally, launching SkinBase in Italy and then Sweden. We attended various trade shows across Europe, meeting some truly inspiring therapists along the way. Our global journey was just beginning!

Zoe Ball TV show
That same year, we also filmed our very own TV show with none other than presenter and national treasure Zoe Ball. The programme followed a group of clients through a 6-week course of SkinBase treatments. The clients documenting their skin journey on camera. The transformation stories shared were powerful and emotional. The show was a fantastic way to highlight just how life-changing SkinBase treatments are.

Time for SkinBase to Move
In 2012, we took a major step forward and moved into a brand new facility. Our new head office had space for in-house manufacturing, office space, and a purpose-built training centre. This gave us better facilities and resources in order to support our growing therapist network and bring even more of our operations under one roof.

European Partnership
In 2014 we formed a key partnership with Italian company Elmac, leading to the introduction of our Medical CE certified IPL system. Once again, our PAYG model meant this state-of-the-art equipment became accessible to salons without the need for huge upfront investment—continuing our mission of making advanced technology available to all.
This was also the year the SkinBase therapist group launched on Facebook. An online community for SkinBase therapists to gain valuable support and share results, we currently have over 3000 SkinBase therapists this group.
SkinBase Joins Forces With Liz McKeon
Fast forward to 2016, when SkinBase teamed up with renowned business expert Liz McKeon to film a pilot for The Salon Turnaround. The show followed struggling salons as they doubled their profits in just two weeks – with only a £200 budget! A brilliant showcase of how powerful guidance and strategy can truly transform a beauty business.

SkinBase National TV Campaign
By 2017, we were on screens nationwide with our first-ever TV campaign. Suddenly, the SkinBase Facial was everywhere, and brand awareness soared as we introduced even more people to the benefits of our advanced treatments.
Industry Award Winners
2019 was a huge year for SkinBase. Not only did we beat out industry heavyweights like Caci, HD Brows and IIAA to win Best Customer Support, Best Training Provider, Best Use of Social Media, and Best Advanced Treatment for Microdermabrasion for the second year in a row, and took home a Digital Award for innovation from the Chambers of Commerce – but it was also the year we launched CL, our much-anticipated radio frequency system. With a long waiting list and plenty of excitement from therapists, CL was a major leap forward in non-invasive skin rejuvenation.

That same year, our therapists and clients rallied together to raise over £10,000 for Breast Cancer Now. We donated £1 for every treatment performed in October, and the SkinBase team even took part in a charity rowing challenge. A true community effort we were proud to be part of!

Covid
In 2020, the world faced an unprecedented challenge as Covid-19 swept across the globe. It was an incredibly stressful and uncertain time for us all. But thanks to the resilience and unwavering support of our SkinBase therapists, we rode out the storm together. Coming through it gave us an even deeper appreciation for the strength of our therapist network and the incredible community we’re part of.
Transformation of the year launch
In 2022, we launched the Transformation of the Year competition. A chance to showcase and celebrate the life-changing results achieved through SkinBase facials. From boosted confidence to incredible skin journeys, this initiative continues to spotlight the amazing impact of our treatments.
US Launch
In 2024, we took a bold new step and launched SkinBase US at the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference (IECSC) in New York. Bringing our award-winning treatments and PAYG systems to a brand new audience of beauty professionals.

NEW SkinBase Hydro Facials
That same year, we were proud to unveil a brand new additional handset for the MD system, designed to meet the growing demand for customisable facial treatments and offer therapists an exciting new way to personalise client results.
And now, in 2025, we celebrate 20 years of SkinBase! Two decades of innovation, growth, and unwavering support for beauty professionals across the UK and beyond. From humble beginnings to a multi-award-winning brand, we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved—and we’re just getting started.
