Salon Spotlight: Bodyology
Lindsay is a SkinBase AYCE therapist, also offering SkinBase Hydro, Collagen Lift and Intense Pulsed Light alongside her Microdermabrasion treatments in Steeton, West Yorkshire. She moved into the beauty industry after working as a personal trainer and mindset coach. She brings her wider health and wellbeing experience into the way she supports her clients, so they can transform themselves on the inside too.

Q: Can you give us a short overview of you and your business?
“Hi, my name is Lindsay. I’ve been in the industry for a few years after pivoting from being a personal trainer and mindset coach and I have worked with SkinBase throughout this time. My approach is slightly different: a blend of the professional treatments from SkinBase with lifestyle coaching. We do really deep dive into the whole holistic lifestyle approach and we put down some healthy habits before we even go into the treatments.”
Q: What challenges did the client face before starting their SkinBase journey?
“Sarah came to me struggling with mild rosacea, red patches, puffiness, inflammation and very uneven skin. She felt like her face was constantly giving away how stressed she was. Even on the days when she felt fine, her lifestyle at the time was really keeping her stuck in this reactive cycle. Her confidence was at rock bottom, she just lost her spark and she really wanted to get it back.”
Q: At the consultation stage, what made you confident the client would be suitable for SkinBase Microdermabrasion?
“It was her commitment that made me realise that she was the perfect candidate for microdermabrasion, even though she has rosacea. It was mild. I was careful. I was gentle and the knowledge that I’ve got with the nutrition side of things just really helped those results.
Treating Sarah with SkinBase Microdermabrasion
“I didn’t go into the treatments until she’d looked into her lifestyle first. That was really key. We looked into her eating habits, lifestyle habits and we really supported her skin barrier. We reduced the inflammation and worked carefully around the rosacea with microdermabrasion but the real shift happened when she started balancing her diet, reducing alcohol, drinking more water and really calming down her nervous system. She really became a lot more confident. The redness softened, the puffiness reduced, the tone evened out and her skin became less reactive. She started to recognise herself again. Now she’s glowing, confident and consistent.”

Q: What key habits did the client commit to that made the biggest difference?
“Her rosacea began to settle once her lifestyle changed, and that was the foundation. After a good few Microdermabrasion treatments, her skin improved, redness reduced, patches became less inflamed, skin tone evened out, puffiness decreased, and her confidence just lifted session by session. She now has monthly maintenance sessions.”
The key habits that made the big difference was:
- reducing alcohol
- having a balanced diet
- being consistent
- daily nutrition
- nervous system regulation
Q: How did documenting progress (photos/results) help both you and your client? Any tips for getting great before-and-after shots?
“Photos are obviously essential for capturing the real results. It really helps us day to day to track how her skin responded at each stage. If you’re going through this you need to really be taking photos with the same lighting, same angle, photos with no makeup, relaxed facial expression and in natural daylight if possible. You can then really see what’s going on in the client’s skin.”
Q: How does it feel to be a Transformation of the Year finalist?
“It honestly feels incredible. It’s like validation for the way I work, treating the whole person and not just the skin. I’m super proud of my client and her commitment. I’m proud of the transformation that we achieved together. Now she has the most glowing skin and she feels so confident. She has really got a spark back, to the point where she even did a photo shoot with me. How amazing is that? She would never ever have done that before.”
Q: What advice would you give to therapists thinking about entering the Transformation of the Year competition?
“Just do it! Document everything. Support your clients fully and trust the process. The competition isn’t just about the results. It’s about the client’s story behind the results and you’ve got nothing to lose. I am super excited about becoming a finalist, I’m really grateful for my gorgeous certificate and award. I feel confident to enter more people into the competition now as it did take me quite a while to start putting my clients forward.”
Q: How has the Transformation of the Year competition benefitted your business?
“It has strengthened the trust with all of my clients. It’s so nice to showcase my award as well and it really helps my Ever experiences. It highlights the results that are possible when you combine lifestyle coaching and the SkinBase treatments. It has brought in new inquiries, boosted my confidence, the confidence of my clients and helped showcase my Ever skin method as a real results-driven treatment. I cannot thank SkinBase enough because it has really given me that confidence as well moving forward.”
