October Awareness Key Dates

As we step into the month of October, it’s time to embrace the new season of Autumn and try, if we can, to put the challenging past few months behind us. Of course, the new normal is still very much changing on a weekly basis, but as we grow and adapt, let’s try and make the most of the month ahead.

As we step into the month of October, it’s time to embrace the new season of Autumn and try, if we can, to put the challenging past few months behind us. Of course, the new normal is still very much changing on a weekly basis, but as we grow and adapt, let’s try and make the most of the month ahead.

If you’ve been struggling for business or if the initial buzz of post lockdown bookings has worn off, then there are some big awareness dates coming up this month that you can certainly use to the advantage of your salon and getting clients back through that door.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The whole of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means that you can run specials, offers and promotions all month long. Here are some ideas…

  • Offer special add ons and pampering treats to those currently living with breast cancer or those who have recently got the all-clear. A little extra pampering and a bit more indulgence will be appreciated we think.
  • Encourage staff to wear pink clothing to promote the breast cancer colour throughout October and of course you can take part in Wear it Pink day!
  • Put up balloons and sell breast cancer pins or badges in your salon to raise money and awareness.

World Smile Day

2nd October is World Smile Day. So, think about ways in which you can make your staff and clients smile. You could arrange for you and staff to wear funny hats or tell a joke to each client. Alternatively, you may want to put a smile on your clients’ faces by offering a little extra bonus for bookings made on that day. Perhaps a complimentary mask or a hand massage. Surely that will put a smile on their face!?

Inner Beauty Day

7th October is all about celebrating our inner beauty (and taking a stand against human trafficking). This is a great way to promote your treatments on social media by using motivational quotes and positive content to remind your loyal clients that beauty comes from within first and foremost. You could use this day to run a Facebook competition. Post a motivational post about inner beauty and ask followers to like, share and comment to win a free treatment. You could get them to nominate someone and tell you what it is about their personality that makes them beautiful from the inside out. This will also increase your following and engagement.

Get to Know Your Customers Day

15th October is a great day to really get to know your customers. Why don’t you check in with some regulars who maybe haven’t been back into the salon since restrictions were eased? Find out why and try and put their mind at ease. Another great way to get to know your customers is by simply speaking with them with meaning when they’re in your salon. And remember to check you have up-to-date details before they leave the salon.

Wear it Pink

23rd October is Wear it Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness. What could you do in the salon to promote and raise awareness for breast cancer? Think dressing pink, offering glasses of pink fizz to clients, or putting up pink decorations. Go all out!

Massage Therapy Week

25th to 31st October is massage therapy week. So, you could potentially offer an extra area free on all massages. Or add in a mask and some extra pampering. The best way to reach your clients is through your social channels. Record a little video saying that all this week you’ll offer X% extra and to book in fast while spaces are still available.

Halloween

Of course, we can’t forget Halloween on 31st October. We know some of you hate doing Halloween in the salon and that’s fine! For us, this year has been a bit of a struggle, and so we are looking forward to dressing up! You could dress up the salon in a fun and spooky way that will not only put a smile on your clients’ faces but will pique the interest of passers-by who may then become clients. Why not get all staff involved and get them to dress up? Some Halloween themed face masks or a few removable cobweb stickers on your visor. Let’s have some fun!

Testimonial: “JC was so low, suicidal at points. Sore, red, angry, his skin was awful, we had tried everything and doctors you name it. We reached out to Becky, who was wonderful. My son was quiet and withdrawn, lacked confidence and self esteem, and locked himself away from the world. Becky booked us in for a consultation to discuss different options of treatments and we decided the new hydro treatment would be the best option. We started the course and JC was nervous but Becky was great with him talking him through everything, step by step! As we went each time JC’s skin got better and better, but also the difference in him was huge, he was gaining confidence, shoulders back, head held high. We have watched his skin change from this red, aggressive, angry skin that was sore, acne was debilitating to him but now he is confident, holds his head up high and has even got his first job! We are so proud. When we met Becky I felt confident she would help us get his skin better and back on track but what has actually happened is skin looks amazing but to see our son gain confidence has been the biggest win! Teens often get pushed aside, put on string meds and told “it’s just your age” but this isn’t what they want to hear, but The SkinBase treatments Becky has done has changed his life! We cannot thank you enough Becky! JC is continuing with the treatments as it still gets the odd breakouts but the scarring is still improving week in week out. The hydro Facial is just amazing and we cannot recommend it enough and of course Becky and her passion for skin and helping people is wonderful!”
