Aim to attract new clients while keeping existing clients coming back for more. This will help your salon run efficiently and profitably. Give clients a reason to pick you over everybody else. Keep training and learning. That way you will stay ahead of your competition.

Look at your current offering and work out new ways to stay relevant. Find ways to make what you have better but also look into new products and services.

3 Cs to consider:

Course

When investing in yourself, ensure you choose a well-respected course. It should be accredited and verified by an awarding body that is considered the best in its field. Do your research. What is the best course on offer? What will you get out of it and what do previous students think? Do the trainers have the right experience and the best qualification? Don’t waste time or money on an unaccredited course. You won’t be able to use the skills you have learned.

Cost

Have a budget in mind and research those that meet your needs. You don’t have to do the most expensive course. Investing in staff training doesn’t have to be expensive either. Low-cost options include online courses and in-house training. Consider the needs of your employees and business goals before you pay for training. Ask yourself whether it will add value to your salon.

Content

Make sure have a good idea of what you want to learn and how. Do you want a practical heavy course? Find that. Prefer to get the basics down with more theory? Choose that! Ask for a course breakdown. What is included in the content?  What is the theory/practical split? Then make an informed decision. While the course may seem expensive, will it attract more clients and increase profits in the long-term?

Keeping up with beauty industry training has a positive effect throughout your salon. It keeps your staff motivated so they deliver a positive service. This leads to happier clients. Invest in yourselves and the rest will follow.
