What is Microdermabrasion?
SkinBase Microdermabrasion is a safe, controlled cosmetic procedure that exfoliates and resurfaces. The treatment helps remove debris from the skin to reveal a younger, healthier-looking complexion. As a non-invasive procedure, Microdermabrasion does not require any recovery time, allowing clients to return to daily activities immediately. This convenience earned the treatment the title of the “lunchtime facial”.
How Does it Work?
The SkinBase Microdermabrasion treatment is progressive rather than aggressive. This means you will not feel any pain or discomfort. Most clients describe the feeling of the skin exfoliation like a gritty facial massage. Over a course of treatment, your SkinBase therapist will pass a jet of abrasive crystals over the skin. The crystals abrade away any dead cells on the surface of the skin. A vacuum action will then remove the crystals and debris from the skin, revealing the fresh skin left behind. The dual-action procedure resurfaces the skin and stimulates blood flow which in turn helps with cell regrowth. Cell regrowth is vital in the production of collagen and elastin. The intensity of MD increases as the course continues. Therefore, your SkinBase therapist reaches deeper layers of the skin to treat acne scarring, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.
Not Just a Facial
Although Microdermabrasion is an ever-popular facial, it can also be used on most areas of the body, such as your neck, chest, back, hands and feet. This flexability allows a whole range of skin problems to be treated. For example, acne on the back (bacne), which can limit confidence during the hot summer months. Several MD treatments using the vigorous crystals will slough away old skin and treat imperfections, so you can wear whatever you want. You may also feel self-conscious about your summer feet. A quick MD pedicure will soften and smooth them in no time.
