I am envious of naturally photogenic people who look effortlessly beautiful in every pic. If you’re like me and feel you could do with a little guidance on how to look your best in photos, then you’ve come to the right place. In this blog, we’ve pulled together some tips which will help you look pretty as a picture in every snap.

Good posture

Good posture is one of the best ways to look great in every photo that you take. The best way to improve your posture is to stand as if you are trying to touch the sky with the top of your head. By doing this, your shoulders will be pushed shoulders back, your chest will raise up and the back straightens out. If you’re a tall girl, don’t make the common mistake of straightening up, only to lower your head at the last second so you are the same height as others. I was often the tallest girl in the photo so was guilty of doing this for years but not any more! Instead, be sure to stand up tall and proud, regardless of your height.

Look above the lens not into it

I learned this tip from a photographer a few years ago. He told me to look slightly above the camera lens instead of directly into the camera. Believe it or not, this gives the appearance that you are looking into the camera more than if you actually do. It’s a really interesting tip that I always use when having photos taken professionally. Be sure to take a few test shots this way if it’s the first time you are attempting this.

Heads high

Holding your chin up can make a massive difference when taking photos. As a result, you will appear more confident and you can see more of your gorgeous face! If you pull your chin down, it isn’t as flattering and looks rather awkward.

Fake a tummy tuck

Ever heard the saying that the camera adds ten pounds? To counteract those extra, unwanted pounds, you need to try this handy trick . Simply twist your torso, turning one shoulder toward the camera and the other away from it and it will help to make you look more slender.

Put your best side forward

You might find that you look very different in pictures, depending on which side is facing the camera. If you haven’t experimented with this and are unsure which is your ‘best side’, take a few shots standing on the right side and also on the left side of another person and see which looks best. You will notice that one side may look totally different than the other side and often looks better in photographs. Give it a go!

Be yourself

Find ways to show your personal style whenever you are in front of the camera. The easiest way to do this is to always be camera ready. Okay, maybe that’s not practical for your lifestyle or even something you care about. But, you can find small ways to be yourself through your clothing and the way you style your hair each day. When your style reflects your personality, your true essence comes through and you will always look your best!
