  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat
  • Slather on the sunscreen. Make sure you have a high SPF. This can stop you getting burned and minimize ageing
  • Stay out of the sun at the height of the midday sun – avoid being outside between 10h00-15h00.
  • Apply sunscreen, even on cloudy days – UV rays penetrate the clouds. It also penetrates through windows
  • Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours – and even more if you are swimming
  • Sunglasses protect your eyes from UV rays – they also protect the tender skin around your eyes.

What to do if you already have sun damage?

Microdermabrasion

Consider a course of Microdermabrasion. It is a minimally invasive procedure and helps to renew your skin tone and texture. Microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of:

  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Melasma (pigmentation)
  • Acne scarring

By removing the top layer of dead skin cells, this treatment promotes the production of new skin cells, fresh collagen and elastin.

IPL Rejuvenation

If pigmentation is your problem book a course of IPL. Also known as Intense Pulsed Light, it is an effective, safe and precise way to eliminate age spots and pigmentation. The machine emits a range of light waves that can be adjusted to target melanin pigment cells.

Always remember to apply SPF. Reapply throughout the day during the summer months.
