It’s week 2 in our lockdown blog series. This week we are looking at DIY skincare using cupboard staples. Don’t worry, we’re pretty sure you’ll have most of these items already in stock!
Missing your microderm? This isn’t going to beat it but these storecupboard basics can help create a face mask for glowing skin…
Glowing Skin
Use this soothing face mask for exquisite radiance. Give your complexion a treat with honey and olive oil – two natural ingredients that are bursting with hydrating and softening properties.
Ingredients
- One teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
- Half a teaspoon of honey
- One teaspoon of baking soda
Mix the three ingredients together to form a fine paste. Cleanse your face thoroughly and then apply the mask. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry.
Eyes
Look after your peepers with this old trick. Teabags. Redbush or chamomile work best but if like us it’s good old Yorkshire tea in stock it will do just fine!
Ingredients
- Two teabags
Steep two teabags in water as you would normally, take them out and squeeze out the excess water. Pop them in the fridge to chill. Then lie back and rest them on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. Although purely anecdotal, the tannin in the teabags is thought to reduce inflammation. It’s worth a try!
Lips
Ingredients
- Blob of Vaseline
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Honey
Take a smidge of vaseline and mix in a teaspoon of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon honey. Mix together then gently rub into lips in circular motions to exfoliate skin and lock in moisture.
It’s great fun to do at home if you have children, they will enjoy mixing ingredients and everyone gets a bit of pampering!
