5 ideas for New Year’s resolutions you’ll actually keep

Ah, New Year’s Resolutions – you may have already seen our post about habits to break in 2019, but we thought we’d add to that with some ideas for things you could start doing in the new year too! These resolutions are all totally doable, and we think that’s super important. Make your resolutions realistic so you can stick to them and really feel a sense of achievement.  Meal plan Meal planning simply means deciding at the weekend what you’re going to cook in the evenings each day of the week, buying the food you need for that, and sticking to it. The best way to get into the habit of meal planning is to start by making your, and your family’s favourite foods for one week (of course, make sure it’s well balanced, we aren’t suggesting a week of elaborate roasts or junk foods!) because this will make you motivated to actually do it, and then when you see how easy meal planning makes dinnertime, the next week when you do it with more everyday meals, it’ll be child’s play.  Quick HIIT Exercising more is probably the most often-abandoned new year’s resolution. And it’s understandable because exercising takes up loads of time, right? Wrong!

Meal plan

Meal planning simply means deciding at the weekend what you’re going to cook in the evenings each day of the week, buying the food you need for that, and sticking to it.

Quick HIIT

Exercising more is probably the most often-abandoned new year’s resolution. And it’s understandable because exercising takes up loads of time, right? Wrong! Sports science has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and we now know that even a 20 minute high-intensity interval training session can do wonders for your body and fitness levels. Aim for 3 times a week, and there are thousands of free sessions available on Youtube – we love the HASfit channel!

Start saying no

Organising your friend’s baby shower? Being Maid of Honour again? Helping out at your kid’s school for the third time this week? Taking on another project at work? Agreeing to too many extra shifts? Offering to drive your mother-in-law around while her car is at the mechanic? You can say no! You don’t have to agree to everything all of the time. Your time is yours, reclaim your days in 2019 and you’ll be amazed by how much time you save to let yourself live.

Learn a new recipe

Eating healthier doesn’t have to mean an immediate and entire overhaul of your diet. Instead, try searching Pinterest for healthy recipes that you’d like to eat. Choose one, and cook it. If you like it, add it into your meal planning calendar, and then as you try more and more, add the ones you enjoy until before you know it, your lunches and dinners are full of vibrant veg, lean proteins and wholegrains!

Invest in yourself – the right way

How often do people start gym memberships or sign up to a diet programme, thinking that ‘spending money’ will motivate them to finally get fit or lose weight? We think it’s better to invest your money into something that someone else is going to do for you, where your only obligation is to turn up. Our recommendation? If you’ve been doing your HIIT sessions and adopting more and more healthy meals into your weekly menus, you should reward yourself with a firming, toning body treatment like SkinBase Radio Frequency. Finally tackle your cellulite and firm up sagging skin with our high-tech treatment, delivered by expert therapists. Money much better spent than a gym membership that only gets used once!
