SkinBase Post-Treatment SPF (50ml) – RRP £21.50

This broad spectrum sun defence SPF 30 offers up to 6 hours of factor 30 sun protection. Offering both UVA and UVB protection for skin. The SkinBase salon professional products are formulated for high quality with gentle soothing properties in a skincare laboratory in Barcelona. Free from MI, Vegan and cruelty free. They are gentle enough to be used on your face and with lots of women suffering from pigmentation issues, taking  preventative measures are important.

Why use an spf?

SPF helps to slow down the effects of ageing. Sun damage ages your skin, you can get age spots and brown patches which spoil your complexion. If you are in the sun a lot your skin will eventually lose its elasticity and its softness. The skin will become dehydrated which will lead to lines and wrinkles. If you want to keep your skin’s soft texture you need to use plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin from dehydration.

UVA/UVB?

The sun emits different types of rays that have different impacts on the skin. UVB rays cause burning, whilst UVA rays cause invisible damage that contributes to skin ageing. Both can cause skin cancer. SPF30 offers 30 times the natural protection your bare skin has against UVB rays and all sun protection products must have a minimum UVA protection that’s one-third the amount of UVB protection.

What kind of product to choose?

There are two main types of sun protection; chemical and physical. Chemical sun filters tend to absorb fully and work inside the skin, whilst physical sun filters sit on top of the skin and create a barrier. If you have sensitive skin you may get on better with physical filters, while if you have oily skin or spots you will almost certainly prefer chemical filters. You can get sun protection in foundations, BB Creams, moisturisers, even facial mists nowadays! So there’s no excuse for skipping it; you’re sure to find something that works for you.
