Not long now until Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re having a girly night in, a raucous night out, a romantic meal or a weekend break, it’s a great excuse to splash out on some beauty treatments to look and feel you very best.
Here’s our favourite Valentines beauty prep ideas, follow these and then all you need to think about is your outfit!
Maximise your lashes
- Start by curling your lashes – we’re always forgetting to use our eyelash curlers at SkinBase, but they seriously add that little something extra to our usual mascara regime. To make maximum impact, gently pinch lashes at the roots and then move along the length, making pulse-like squeezes as you go.
- Apply your chosen mascara mascara by wiggling the wand back and forth at the roots to deposit as much of it as possible before pulling the wand straight up.
- To make lashes look long and separated, apply three coats of mascara—but comb through the mascara while it’s still wet with a clean, dry brush – avoiding that less than pretty clumped together look.
Silky soft lips
There are three steps to perfectly kissable lips, exfoliate, moisturise, add colour.
Clean lips by using a sugar scrub and a soft hair toothbrush. Prepare a sugar scrub by mixing water to powdered sugar. Now add little sugar scrub to the top of your brush and with a soft hand rub it gently to your lips.
For a natural alternative to moisturisers and lip balms, use honey. Take some honey on your finger and massage it to lips for 5 minutes. Now keep it for another 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. This is a natural treatment to get ultra smooth lips naturally.
The Perfect complexion
Of course we would think this is the most important step to Valentine’s beauty! If your skin is clear and smooth then you’ll feel like the most confident version of yourself. There’s still time to get your SkinBase facial booked in before Valentine’s Day, and most people see a result from the very first facial. Make sure you’re exfoliating once a week with an at home beauty product and use a rich moisturiser overnight to keep the skin hydrated.
When applying your make up, make sure you use a primer to smooth out fine lines; it will also make sure your make up stays put all night!
Get the smoothest shave
Prickly legs, underarms and bikini line is the antithesis of Valentine’s beauty. Here’s some top tips from allure.com on how to get the smoothest shave.
For your legs: Start above the ankle and work upward in six-inch sections. Rinse the razor between each stroke. To get your knees and ankles, pull the skin taut with one hand and glide the razor with the other.
For underarms: Shave at different angles, since the hair grows every which way. Move the blade upward, then down, then across, rinsing it clean and relathering between strokes.
For the bikini line: Avoid irritation by angling the blade in the direction of hair growth and gently shaving with the grain.
