We’ve seen lots of ultra-high-leg swimwear around this summer and it’s certainly got us tempted to expand our wardrobe with one! If like us, you want to try this trend too, you might want to invest in a course of IPL hair removal to get silky smooth skin, and to avoid razor bumps or irritation from waxing.
How does IPL work?
Intense Pulsed Light is a revolutionary type of light-based treatment that uses specialised filters to target specific structures within the skin. Because of this, it’s more versatile than traditional laser treatments and is effective on all sorts of skin conditions, including acne, pigmentation and wrinkles. But the treatment IPL is best known for is, of course, permanent hair reduction. It works by causing controlled damage to the hair follicles, which permanently disables them without affecting the skin around them. To achieve this, the high-powered handset used by SkinBase therapists delivers intense pulses of light to the area.
How effective is it?
With SkinBase IPL you can experience up to 95% permanent hair reduction. Any hair that does grow back will be softer and finer than before.
Where can it be used?
IPL is a very safe treatment and can be used on sensitive areas like the bikini line and upper lip. It’s also great on larger areas including the legs, forearms and back.
How many treatments do I need?
In order for IPL to effectively disable a hair follicle, it needs to be in a specific growth stage called the anagen phase. Only about 30% of hair is in this phase at any one time. We recommend 6-10 treatments to achieve the best results. However, after these treatments are over, your hair woes will be over too, and you won’t have to go back to conventional hair removal again! It’s a really great time investment.
What does it feel like?
Unlike waxing and some other light-based treatments, IPL is painless and most clients describe it as a like a flick of an elastic band. SkinBase IPL is designed with comfort in mind; a unique cooling handset is used before the pulsed light to reduce sensitivity in the area. So, there’s none of the pain of waxing and none of the skin irritation (and potential injuries) of shaving.
How long does it take?
An IPL hair reduction treatment will take about the same amount of time as getting a wax, however, there’s no mess or clean-up afterwards and you don’t have to worry about skin irritation, and as if that wasn’t enough, after your treatments are over, you won’t have to go back ever again!
IPL will allow you to be confident in what you wear at the beach for years to come. Without having to worry about razor bumps, missing a spot of hair, waxing pain or messy hair removal treatments either. What are you waiting for? Contact us here for your nearest IPL Therapist.
