2015 was the year we saw everyone go crazy for juicing, and as we start the new year with health and wellbeing in mind, what could be better than kickstarting your day with one of these delicious and nutritious recipes. Our goal at SkinBase HQ is to get more fruits and vegetables into our diets and boost energy levels throughout the day; glimmering skin will be an added bonus! Here are three of our all time favourites from Babble.com.

Carrot, Apple and Spinach Juice

Not quite ready for the full green smoothie? Take it slowly with this delectable juice of sweet carrots, apple juice and with just a smidge of green for good measure.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 large carrots
  • 1 large apple
  • 1 cup loosely packed spinach

Wash your veg, chop, and… blend. The easiest juice we’ve ever tried, and one of the most delicious too.

The Citrus Kick

This juice, packed with potassium, vitamin C, vitamin A and folate, will really get you going in the morning with a kick of ginger and cayenne! Think of it as the all-natural, vitamin-rich alternative to a double shot latte.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 large orange, juiced (you can do this by peeling and placing in juicer – or by hand manual squeezing peel-on)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced (same method as orange)
  • 1 medium apple, chopped
  • *Fuji, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith are my faves
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger, skin removed
  • cayenne spice ( a few dashes)

How to:

  • Wash all your ingredients.
  • Peel your orange and 1/2 lemon – and remove the lemon seeds. Chop your apple into chunks that will fit in your juicer. You can juice the entire apple – core and all. Chop ginger into small chunks.
  • Start juicing all your ingredients. Stir gently to swirl the flavors.
  • Pour into serving glasses and top with cayenne. Add cayenne to taste.Take a look on Babble for the juicer’less’ version!

Green Apple Detox

Lovely hints of lemon and coconut water plus the sweetness of whichever apple variety you want to use make this a firm green juice favourite!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 medium apple, chopped (any sweet variety)
  • 2 cups mache lettuce (or spinach – or any soft leafy green)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • handful of ice (optional)
  • optional: cayenne – a few dashes for spiciness

How to:

Blend in a high speed blender from low to high until smooth. You could also add in some mint and a splash of grade B maple syrup if you’d like. This juice is packed with hydrating, energizing nutrients like vitamins A and C, potassium, fibre and more!

We adore these juices, but there are simply hundreds of flavor combinations to try! These were ideas taken from brilliant site, Babble, and you can see their top 15 suggestions over on the blog.

Do you have a favourite juice variety? What do you put in yours? We’d love to hear!
