If you hadn’t already guessed, we are lovers of all things beauty here at SkinBase and we love sharing our favourite tips and beauty news with you. We are also avid readers of beauty blogs and thought it only fair we share some of the best beauty blogs with you! This week we are are reading Miss Budget Beauty – enjoy!
This week we are recommending the Miss Beauty Budget blog brought to you by a young Mum who hasn’t always got the money to spend on high end products and hate to spend more than she has to for the cosmetics she loves -a girl after our own heart then!
This blog is full to the brim of tips on how to look your best but on a modest budget and we love her for it. She has sampled so many brands over the years to find the bargain items that are just as good as those found at the beauty hall so is in the best position to share her tips with us.
And one of our favourite blogs is her cure for a hangover titled ‘Hangover Essentials’. She writes:
“We all do it, don’t we? Fortunately (or not) for me I accidentially got horribly drunk a few weeks before a big hen party so I’m hoping when someone is handing me that shot I remember the horrendous after effects and hand it right back. For now all I can do is share my recovery essentials and that’s what todays post is all about, if you can’t avoid the hangover then here’s how to handle it (from a beauty perspective).
“Tinted lip balm – double duty product and this is new to me but was a total life saver last week when it landed on my doorstep and I summoned the strength to open the package. It feels like a real treat for the lips but adds a little colour to a very dull looking face. Next up are eye gels – I opt for minimum makeup and dark glasses the morning after as it’s not going to do much good but both the Organic Surge gel and the Origins cooling eye mask do wonders for perking up very tired eyes. You could of course opt for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser to even out your skin and give yourself a bit of a glow but I wanted something that would do some good rather than just cover up the bad and this Anti-Hangover Soothing Mask from Belif does just the job. It’s designed to be used overnight but for me the benefits are the feel of it on your skin and you don’t get that if you’re asleep, do you? It’s refreshing, calming and perfect for those days when your skin is suffering along with you.
“If you absolutely have to get your eyes out (work for example – no other reason will do) then I recommend something light and illuminating to hide your sleep deprivation. Origins GinZing is a new love of mine, it has a little coverage and sparkle to detract from dark circles while treating them but if you want something a little more heavy duty (or lighter on the pocket) The Illuminating Touch concealer from Collection is also great, it’s been my go to morning pick me up since I got it a couple of weeks ago and although I wouldn’t say it rivaled the well known YSL version it’s definitely a good alternative for the price.
“My last beauty product would be a facial spritz, I love the Caudalie but only for it’s fragrance.. in this instance I’d have given just about anything to have a bottle of it to hand as you want anything that will make you feel better when you feel THAT awful but this Nspa Toning Mist is also very nice and a regular skin care item for me in these warmer months. The whole Nspa range smells so spa-like and relaxing and again anything that refreshes your tired skin is a plus. Lastly I couldn’t be without a tall drink with ice if I have a hangover.. I managed to summon the energy to leave the house for this bad boy as it’s all I was craving.. seriously I didn’t want anything to do with my beloved Diet Coke so all I’d say is make sure you have your essentials on hand BEFORE you drink.. you don’t want to be making a mad dash to town without your dark glasses and lip balm.”
