Post Treatment Care

Post Treatment Care for Your Favourite SkinBase Treatments

After a SkinBase treatment, it’s extremely important to give your skin the best care possible. Post treatment care will maximise the benefits of your chosen treatment so your complexion will look flawless. If you’re unsure how to get the best out of your SkinBase treatment, here are a few pointers for you.

Post treatment care for microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating treatment used to remove dead skin cells. This stimulates collagen and promotes a youthful looking, luminous and clear complexion. While microdermabrasion is a safe treatment requiring no downtime, it’s essential that you ensure your skin is clean and moisturised regularly. Furthermore, you should avoid using any harsh chemicals or tanning treatments to avoid irritation. Use gentle products on your skin and avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you’re going outside, make sure you apply sun protection.

Post treatment care for Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

IPL therapy is perfect for treating an array of conditions like acne, thread veins or unwanted hair. Your aftercare for IPL therapy should include applying sunscreen to your skin as this will prevent UV damage, as well as avoiding the application of retinol or retinoids. You should keep your treatment area clean and avoid any harsh products or scrubbing of the skin. If you have any redness after treatment, it’s best to avoid applying cosmetics, going swimming, especially in hot water, or doing any exercise that involves excess sweating. If you have been treated for hair reduction, you can shave after treatment but be careful to prevent any skin injury for 4 to 5 days after treatment. For age spots, keep the skin moisturised with a petroleum based product. If you’ve been treated for rosacea or veins, don’t bathe in a hot bath or shower and avoid exercise for 48 hours afterwards.
