Music festival season is here and I am so so excited! Glastonbury is less than two weeks away and with that comes a steady flow of festivals taking place across the country! So if you’re planning on attending any this summer, you’ve got to check out these beauty tips for music festivals.
Outdoor events can be a challenge makeup-wise because you’re exposed to the elements and it’s not very practical to lug around a big makeup bag for touch-ups
Skip the lipstick
I would be leading you astray if I didn’t start this list of beauty tips for music festivals off with this tip: skip lipstick! You’re probably going to be sipping a few cold drinks and it’ll probably be hot so a thick lipstick that requires you to reapply is not the way to go! Opt for a lip stain or tinted lip balm with sunscreen so you’re keeping your lips hydrated and protected with just a hint of color.
Screen the sun
Next up, sunscreen! You’re going to spend a few hours or even the whole day outside so protecting your skin is a must! Be sure to lather up 30 minutes before you head out and also pack a small, travel-sized version in your bag for later. According to the Melanoma Foundation, sunscreen should be reapplied after heavy perspiration and after swimming. To be on the safe side, reapply every 2 hours or so to prevent a painful sunburn!
Keep make up light
A summer festival is not the place you want to wear heavy makeup because it’s going to look and feel heavy after a few hours in the sun. If you have oily skin, you can apply a clay mask to your face prior to applying your makeup so it absorbs excess oil. Then, choose a tinted moisturiser or BB cream as a base and keep lips, eyes and cheeks simple and light.
Blotting papers will come in super handy at an outdoor event whether you wear makeup or not. Stash a pack of blotting papers to soak up excess oil and keep your face looking fresh without disturbing your makeup. Blotting papers will help your skin look radiant minus all the touch-ups with powder, which will end up looking thick and cakey!
While dry shampoo isn’t necessarily a beauty product, it is something that will keep you looking beautiful! Look for a travel-sized dry shampoo and pack it with your other beauty loot so you can quickly soak up excess oil in your roots and freshen up your scalp. If you’re spending the weekend at a music festival, this is definitely a must-have!
This next beauty tip is an absolute must for attending a summer festival! Whether it’s rainy and muddy or hot and sunny, cleansing wipes can help your face, neck and body stay clean and fresh. If you don’t have any makeup cleansing wipes, baby wipes can also do the trick. Keep a small packet of these in your bag so you can freshen up anytime you want!
The last beauty tip I have for you is probably a no-brainer but I still have to say it! If you’re going to wear eye makeup, whether it be mascara, eye liner or eye shadow, make sure you use a waterproof or long-wearing formula so it can keep up with you and the weather. If your fave eye makeup product is not waterproof, you might be safer getting a new waterproof formula so you don’t have to worry about it when the big day comes!
