Don’t worry, we don’t mean the housework type. This spring clean is much more enjoyable. Spring is a great time to get your skin in order. Slough off the old dead skin and reveal that fresh dewy complexion.
Our microdermabrasion facials are perfect for this and the procedure can also help with a number of skin concerns.
What is Microdermabrasion?
It’s an intense exfoliation. A small hand-held device is used to gently ablate the skin using tiny crystals. The suction action takes away the dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. Your circulation is given a boost and once the old dead skin has been removed you’ll find a brand new layer of healthy skin.
Does it help if I have a skin condition?
Yes. It can improve acne and acne scars. It helps hyperpigmentation, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, closes up open pores and eliminates blackheads. If you have brown spots caused by sun damage you’ll find these have faded.
Does it hurt?
No. It’s a painless treatment. The suction action feels like a little hoover on the skin and the crystals themselves you should feel but this should not be painful.
What about after the treatment?
Your skin might feel tight for a couple of hours and there could be some redness, but this will subside. Keep hydrated and drink plenty of water. Some people might get a break-out of spots after a session. This is proof that your skin is working hard to repair itself and purge impurities, you’ll see an improvement in your skin within days.
How many sessions will I need?
During a course we recommend a treatment every 7-10 days. Skin can often get worse before it gets better as the skin purges impurities, so a course of 6 is recommended. For more stubborn skin concerns more sessions may be required. The treatment is progressive so if you are continuing to see results you can continue up to a maximum of 20 in a course. Beyond that, it’s good to have a facial once a month to maintain your results. It will clean your skin and retain its freshness. It’s also a nice way to give yourself a regular treat.
