Acne, even the word makes me shiver and we’ve all suffered from it from time to time. Over the years I’ve found that many of my triggers come from stress or a food sensitivity. You need to clean your makeup brushes, not just your face
If you do not wash your brushes, bacteria builds up on them from constant contact with your skin and cosmetic products. This leads to fungus on the brushes, which wind up on your face in the form of breakouts, so clean your brushes regularly. I like to wash my makeup brushes once a week in baby shampoo. I just place the bristles of each brush into a jar with a small amount of shampoo and fill the jar with warm water to soak overnight. This is an excellent gentle way to clean your brushes and clarify them again. After you wash them, blot them with a paper towel and let them air dry for at least 2-3 hours. I like to do this on the weekends when I have some spare time.
Go easy on Vitamin C
One of the best and most surprising tips on getting rid of acne is not to take too much Vitamin C. Many of us are in the habit of taking supplements to help prevent coughs and colds or eat too many citrus foods or foods like tomatoes and strawberries, which are very high in Vitamin C. All vegetables and fruits with Vitamin C are extremely healthy, but they can lead to acne. Orange juice is also a major culprit. Get your daily dose of Vitamin C in small amounts and notice, when you eat certain foods, if you react the next morning.
Kiss goodbye to sugar
Most of us have a seriously hard time giving up our favourite sweets. I had terrible acne when I ate sugary foods. When I began to clean up my diet, I noticed my face never looked better.
