We’re getting closer to one of my most favourite times of year – New Year, where we all can get a bit giddy at the thought of the year ahead and our hopes and dreams of what might be. It’s also the perfect time to look into ways to change your look. Have you ever heard the saying “New Year, new you”? Well, we may be a little early with this blog as there’s a little way to go yet, but with all the resolutions and changes happening during the New Year, why not make it a case of out with the old and in with the new?
Check out these simple, commitment-free ways to change your look in the New Year. Go on, give it a go!
Try a new lip colour
We all know the difference a good lipstick can make, infact, in one simple coat, it can completely change your look! If red lipstick is your usual thing, then why not try a pretty pink hue or bold coral instead? If you’re always wearing nude lips, then try a bold colour for some extra drama. Alternatively, if you’re always wearing colour on your lips, try going for a natural look instead. And remember, if you don’t like it, you can always just change it in an instant!
Be bold and change your hair colour
It’s normally one of the first things people consider when changing their look and I must admit, I am a fan of it myself! If you don’t want to spend the money and hours on a salon treatment, then try going a few shades darker with a home hair colouring kit.
Switch your hair parting
While we are on the subject of hair, why not change you hair parting. Although extremely simple, it can also be one of the most noticeable. If you usually part it to the side, try parting it in the middle or to the other side. It might take some time to retrain your hair to part in its new position, so patience is the key.
Make a play with accessories
A wardrobe overhaul can be quite daunting, so update your usual outfits with some new, trend-based accessories instead. For the most part, you can buy plenty of fashionable accessories on a budget, so you don’t have to commit the big dollars you’d otherwise spend on designer accessories. Accessories can really update an outfit and are a simple and effective way to change your look.
Give nail art a whirl
Ditch your normal manicure for some fun nail art. There’s just so much inspiration these days when it comes to nail art, you’re spoilt for choice. Set aside an afternoon and try anything from patterned nails to dazzling embellishments. If you want a fuss-free option, try nail transfers and wraps instead.
Purchase some new shoes
Shoes can really make or break an outfit and when it comes to your New Year look, they can play an important role. No matter what your personal style, trading in your usual shoes for a new pair can instantly refresh your look. For example, if you usually wear flat shoes, try on a pair of heels to give you some extra height. Statement shoes are also quite on-trend right now and are a great way of adding some flair to an outfit.
