We love the blog by celebrity hairdresser and make up artist, Sunnie Brook. And we especially love her DIY tips to keep us looking tip top for very little spendies!
So you can imagine out delight when we came across her recipe for hair powder/ dry shampoo. We’ve all had those days where we sleep in and don’t have time to wash the hair or are heading out for a night on the tiles straight from work and want our hair to look like we’ve just stepped out of a salon, so we are sure this blog will come in handy!
Here’s Sunnie’s recipe for homemade hair powder and with only three ingredients (a different one for light or dark hair), it’s absolutely easy and you just might actually have everything you need in your kitchen!
HOMEMADE HAIR POWDER
- 1/2 cup corn starch or 1/2 cup cocoa powder (depending on your hair colour)
- 2 Tbsp baking soda
- 1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil (optional)
- Combine in a bowl, mix well.
Fill a container (Sunnie likes spice shakers) and apply to your roots with a medium size makeup brush. Use on hair before getting dressed to avoid dusty looking clothes. Once you apply, let it sit for a minute so the oil+dirt absorb then gently comb out. Style as desired.
