One of our favourite beauty features comes from fashion and beauty experts at ‘Stylist’ magazine.

We loved their recent features on ‘juicy diets’ to help with skin problems. This week, we wanted to share their ‘acne juice’ full of delicious, skin boosting fruits which are said to help diminish acne and blemishes when teamed with other skin treatments and a healthy diet.

Worth a shot we think – check it out…

Apples (Lots), pineapple, spinach, lime, celery, cucumber, avocado, beetroot, blueberries, bananas.

Some top tips to successful ‘juicyness’

  • These juices should never replace food – think of it as a health kick.
  • Allow yourself an extra ½ an hour in the morning to prepare & drink your juices.
  • Taken as breakfast is best, good fuel for the day and lunchtime too – with protein rich, healthy lunch of course.
  • For acne, including hormone regulating foods such as celery, parsley fennel and even flax seed or evening primrose oil to your juice
  • When it comes to juicing be creative, adding maca which is a root vegetable from Peru is amazing for acne, try pak choi instead of spinach, fennel instead of celery, don’t go over the top on fruit, always combine with some vegetables if you are not brave enough to go fully green, but you do very quickly get used to the taste and some people actually look forward to it.

Acne & your Diet

The success of juicing is relative to the food you eat. Whilst this is not a diet of any kind we advise that you eat a healthy balanced diet that’s full of fresh food and try to cut back on refined food, high sugared foods if possible as this will help to boost the results.

Note. If starving, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, a mid-morning snack of humous and carrot is fine and mid-afternoon snack of nuts (Brazil nuts are really good for skin) and half an avocado or a banana.

Acne & your skincare routine

Juice and a good diet are a fab start to beating acne, but if you want to rid yourself of acne scars or more aggressive acne, you might want to try skin boosting treatments such as microdermabrasion, lasering or skin peels. Your dermatologist or doctor might be able to help you decide on the best treatment. If you want to know more about how microdermabrasion works, you can read more here.
