Microdermabrasion has the ability to totally transform your client’s skin after just a few treatments, revealing soft, smooth, radiant skin. But how long do these results last? Just like with any beauty treatment, clients need to continue to care for their skin to maintain the fantastic results.
A course of microdermabrasion facials will help with a multitude of skin concerns, such as scarring, blocked pores and pigmentation, but these imperfections develop over time, and so we need to take steps and develop an appropriate skincare plan for clients to care for their skin after the treatments finish. We recommend the following three things as a must for your clients:
Exfoliate
The idea behind microdermabrasion is that it exfoliates skin far more deeply than any at-home treatment can manage, and therefore it removes years of deeply embedded grime, stimulates the circulation and promotes cell renewal to rejuvenate skin. If your client neglects to exfoliate after the course of treatments finish, this will all return to normal, but if they keep their fresh new skin well-exfoliated, cell turnover will remain high, ensuring clear pores and an even complexion. Make sure they don’t overdo it though – twice a week with a gentle face scrub is fine.
Cleanse
Your skin needs constant maintenance, and cleansing twice a day is the most basic, but also the most important thing you can do for your skin. If you don’t you’ll undo all the hard work of your therapist and the investment you made in your skin, quicker than you can say ‘microdermabrasion’.
Wear SPF
Whilst microdermabrasion is great for sloughing away those pigmented areas and leaving your client with clear, even skin, it won’t protect from the sun. You need to be the one to stop pigmentation from coming back, and you can do that by recommending a high SPF is worn all day every day. SkinBase’s homecare with SPF is specifically designed to protect skin after treatment, you could offer this free with a course booking rather than a free treatment.
