Pink Grapefruit

The wonder stuff in pink grapefruit is called lycopene, which is a protective antioxidant and great for your skin, helping to protect it from free radical damage and prevent premature ageing. Eating the fruit is the best way to get a good dose of lycopene if you can deal with the sour taste. If not, scrubs or facial washes with pink grapefruit in them may be of some benefit.

Papaya

Papaya is excellent for clear skin and should be available in the shops now as it’s coming into season. Use this sweet and tasty fruit to add some rich flavour to a shake or smoothie, or eat it fresh to get the full benefits.

Banana

Suffer from not only dull looking skin, but dark under eye circles? Ladies, I introduce to you the mighty banana! Bananas are full of potassium, which help to banish unsightly dark circles and keep skin clear, so make sure you are having one a day if you can! I love to add bananas to my morning cereal or grab them as an on-the-go snack. Dried banana slices are perfect to throw into trail mix!

Orange

If oily skin is one of your biggest skin woes, it’s likely the summer months will only make the situation worse, so it’s time to start stocking up on oranges. Citrus acid helps dry up oily residue, so it makes sense that citrus fruits would keep your skin clear! Say no to oily skin by making oranges and lemons your new best friends. In addition to eating them, try rubbing pure citrus juice onto your face with a cotton ball once daily to eliminate oily skin and breakouts.

Mango

Just like carrots, but more yummy, mangoes are rich in beta-carotene, which is a form of vitamin A that helps protect against the sun and the damage caused by the sun’s rays. This isn’t an excuse to stop wearing sunscreen, but a little more protection against sunspots and premature ageing can only be a good thing!
