Aisle say...’I do’ to bridal beauty!
The countdown is officially on and you’re the luckiest girl in the world! If 2012 is the year you’re finally getting married to the love of your life then this post is for you. Whilst we know you’ll be busy sorting seating plans, confirming venues, menus and bridesmaids dresses – don’t forget that this is your big day, every gaze will be fixed firmly on you (and rightly so, I hear you say, that dress cost me a fortune!)
Make sure you follow our top tips in the lead up to ‘I do’ and you’ll not only feel, but also look, stunning on your perfect day.
6 months to go...
Say ‘I do’ to everyday skincare:
First, start a good cleansing program. You should be using a multi-step system including the following essentials:
• Good cleanser appropriate for your skin-type in the mornings
• Make-up remover and cleanser at night
• Daily moisturizer
• An exfoliant (use just once / twice a week)
Say ‘I do’ to a healthy, hydrated diet!
No, we’re not about to advocate you starving yourself (in fact if you want your dress to fit we’d say you should stay just about as you are!) but there’s no skin that couldn’t do without more water, fruit and vegetables. Yes, we know it’s self explanatory – but sometimes a goal like a wedding is just what you need to keep that jug of water at your desk at work (oh, you need between 8 – 10 glasses a day, if you’re asking!)
While you're increasing your water consumption, it's a great time to be decreasing your caffeine consumption. Not only will less caffeine help your skin, it will also help you to be less stressed out! Try lovely flavoured teas (peppermint, nettle, raspberry) all these should be caffeine free, your skin will be instantly more hydrated and radiant, trust us.

Say 'I do' to facials, facials, facials...
Now is the time to start prepping your skin for the million photos you’ll be appearing in. Book a course of microdermabrasion treatments (every bride I know has sworn by them!) One every 3 weeks until your wedding day and you’ll see tired skin, fine lines, break outs and even old acne scars faded, leaving you radiating with good health – we promise! Find your nearest therapist here.
3 or 4 months to go…
Say ‘I do’ to testing out the professionals!
It's also the time to start your search for a wedding day hairstylist and makeup artist (if you’re planning on having one!) Even if you aren't planning on using professionals, you'll want to ask your friend or family member for their help now to make sure they are available and willing.
Try visiting your local beauty salon or counter and asking them for a ‘mini makeover’. Remember, whilst you want to look flawless on your big day, it’s important to still look like you! So if you usual look is minimal, don’t let them try and pile on the foundation, bright lipstick and blusher – go for make up that highlights your facial features and that, ultimately, you feel comfortable wearing!
Say ‘I do’ to avoiding becoming a bridezilla!
And…breathe. We know you’re stressed and have a million things to do, but it's hard to be beautiful when you're tearing your hair out. Start out by dealing with the people who stress you out, then read my tips for relaxation. Exercise, yoga, and other physical activities will help build strength, energy, and relieve tension while you're at it. You might want to talk to your doctor about good nutrition and exercise routines.
1 month to go…
Say ‘I do’ to getting hairy!
If you want to grow out your hair for your wedding, or try a different color or style, now is the time to talk to your hairstylist. Also, ladies, if you’re planning on getting everything waxed off proper to the big day, you may wish to start thinking about letting the hair on your legs grow. Yes, we all hate doing it, but how many times have you been to get waxed and been told you could have done with a few more weeks of growth…? Think about it.
P.S Go get um’ beautiful – we know you’re going to look truly amazing and take your other half’s breath away…
